Cultural Program held in Dhaka

A program of folksongs, jointly organized by Ispahani School & College, Agrani School & College and Pally Baul Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, was held in city.

The organizers arranged the function with a view to creating awareness on the country’s one of the prime cultural heritage Baul songs among the students.

Director of the American Cultural Center Jonathan Sebra, adviser of the cultural affairs of the American embassy Sabrin S Rahman, principal of the Ispahani School & College Rafiqa Afroz were present as speakers at the function among others.

Eminent folk singer Kangalini Sufia, Baul Nayan, Baul Babul Sarkar and Baul Beauty sang at the function. They also introduced the students with fourteen local musical instruments, including ektara, dotara, dhol, banshi, khamak, baya, dugi, khol and sarinda.

The Pally Baul Samaj Unnayan Sangstha also handed over an audio CD of 52 folksongs to Rafiqa Afroz to disseminate the songs among the students.
